IEP partnered with Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) to generate the first Northern Ireland Peace Index (NIPI): an empirical, data-led, quantitative measurement of negative and positive peace in Northern Ireland over time and at the Local Government District (LGD) level.

Central to the Index is IEP’s Positive Peace framework as a systems-oriented approach to peacebuilding, examining how social, institutional and economic conditions interact to shape the foundations of sustainable peace.

The Index provides an alternative lens through which government, civil society organisations and researchers can conceptualise and analyse peace as well as design strategies to strengthen it.
